It took me a month and I hope I made the right decision

Submitted by admin on Thu, 06/02/2005 - 03:19.

For those who don't know. I was previous located in the 50th state.
But I recently quit, sold everything and took a month long roadtrip around the US in search of better opportunties. I haven't found anything great but have decided to settle for a while in the west coast. I am in the process of relocation in CA. Wish me luck in finding better jobs and opportunities.

Sorry, haven't read the posts in a month. I had only limited internet access during roadtrip but I am catching up on my reading.

Comment spamming, system tweaking and missing comments

Submitted by admin on Wed, 02/23/2005 - 03:03.

You may have experience missing comments. I apologize for that, in the process of tweaking the site to combat comment spamming, some of the comments (comments from start of feb to few days ago) were accidentally deleted. Unfortunately, I do not have the backup for it (I try to backup every month and the last backup was in Feb 1st) but newer comments from the last 3 days comments before Feb 1st are still available. The database however stills logs and reports the number of comments including the missing ones at the end of the blog summary.

Sorry again for the inconvience and frustration.

Corporate Lessons (Rated R)

Submitted by admin on Fri, 12/31/2004 - 00:18.

Found another one, hope no one is offended

Corporate lesson 1
-----------------------------------------
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. After a few seconds of arguing over which one should go and answer the doorbell, the wife gives up, quickly wraps herself up in a towel and runs downstairs.

When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbour. Before she says a word, Bob says,"I'll give you 800 dollars to drop that towel that you have on."

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her 800 dollars and leaves.

Job Application

Submitted by admin on Thu, 12/30/2004 - 23:50.

This is a reprint of a job application floating around the Internet.

Quote:

This is an actual job application a 17 year old boy submitted at a McDonald's fast-food establishment in Florida...and they hired him because he was so honest and funny!

NAME: Greg Bulmash

SEX: Not yet. Still waiting for the right person.

DESIRED POSITION: Company's President or Vice President. But seriously, whatever's available. If I was in a position to be picky, I wouldn't be applying here in the first place.

DESIRED SALARY: $185,000 a year plus stock options and a Michael Ovitz style severance package. If that's not possible, make an offer and we can haggle.

Its all upper management's fault

Submitted by admin on Mon, 12/27/2004 - 08:38.

I am not sure what everybody thinks of my opinion on upper management but when I started this site, it was supposed to be a venting place for me on upper management while I was working for a corporation. Sadly, I got laid off 2 months after starting this site. Another reason I started this site is because I sort of enjoyed the gossip with my co-workers and even middle managers on stupid policies and crazy customers and I wanted to hear more of it from other people in different industries.

I notice that a lot of people here are frustrated with their boss, co-workers, or customers, which doesn't resonate with me because I normally get along well with people, co-workers, managers, and even customers. In fact, it is one of of the reasons why I enjoy going to work. I had dabbled on and off with my own business and it is a very very lonely experience. Of course I get to meet clients, customers every now and then but having co-workers is something I really miss when I am alone at the computer and in my house.

I actually had this as my career objective on my resume a while back

Submitted by admin on Mon, 12/27/2004 - 02:27.

I actually had this as my career objective on my resume a while back, I don't remember who I send it too though.
It was truly how I felt and what my career objective really was instead of the fluff usually written. Unfortunately, I don't think it work.

Career Objective
First and foremost to make money.
Second, to learn anything and everything about your industry
Third, do whatever is necessary to get the job done in order to help you get your bonus, make more money or get you that promotion.
That's the short term. Fourth and ultimately, I will take that knowledge and start my own business in your industry so I don't have to work for you, because I am too good and driven to work long term for somebody else, but you can be sure I will give you 200% as long as I am working for you, not because I like you; I don't even know you yet, but because I am eager to learn and get in the industry on my own.
It's an win win situation, short term for you, long term for me. If you are not afraid of having smarter and better people working for you, or with you, contact me now.

Upgrading Site

Submitted by admin on Fri, 11/05/2004 - 23:32.

Hi everyone, as you know, we recently upgraded our hosting servers and made changes in regards to putting sponsors on our site. The next step is upgrading and customizing the script engine that runs this site. It would be pretty painstalking and you might experience some inconviences over the next few days(it shouldn't be as bad as when we moved to a different host, I hope) After this, there shouldn't be any major changes for a long time. Thank for your support.

We Are Back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Submitted by admin on Thu, 10/14/2004 - 23:38.

THANK YOU everyone for your patience. We have been down the past few days while moving to a new host.
We are finally back up at a new host that can hopefully accommodate our growth. I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding. Must been hard not able to share your frustrations the past few days.
I will be updating some more stuff in the next few days, but your old blogs and new blogs will still be safe, so feel free to start venting now.
Thank you.

Site might be now the next few days

Submitted by admin on Fri, 10/08/2004 - 01:49.

Hi everyone. As you know from my last post, we are growing. Today, you may have seen that on the front page it shows account for this site is suspended. The reason for that is because we were using too much resources on a shared hosting environment. Our current host does not have the capability to upgrade us without a huge jump in hosting fees, at least not for another month until they have something called a virtual private server. I will not bore you with the details, but I might be looking for another host since I do not want this site to be down for one month. There will still be some down time as I have to migrate all the blogs to another host and I ask that you be patient. It is unfortunate but that can't be help. I hope most of you get to see this message before it goes down again.

fthisjob is growing

Submitted by admin on Wed, 10/06/2004 - 03:08.

Our site is growing even though I haven't really been doing my job promoting it. Despite that and having no images on this site, we actually went two times over our allocated bandwith for last month.

I do hope that fthisjob.com has help everyone in some way. You might notice some recommended books on the left side of your screen; We have partnered with amazon.com to help pay for the hosting of this site. I have chosen topics which I think will help you and I actually read some of it (at work, we have a lot of job and work related books here because lots of professionals come through here.)
