Wise words indeed...

Wise words, sadly not ones that I dreamt up, but worth sharing with you I feel. Kudos to Smiley :-)

1. Any job done exclusively at a desk on a computer can be exported.

2. There are millions of hungry and smart folks available to do your job for less than you.

3. Companies consider people to be disposable commodities, no more important than office supplies.

4. Companies will try to foster loyalty from you while giving none in return. Being loyal to a company is suicidally stupid.

5. When you work for wages, figure out a way to save at least 1/2 your salary so that one day you have a hope of becoming one of the wealthy exploiters rather than a typical exploited wage slave.

WooHoo ! - I'm out :-)

That's it, I've escaped with a juicy redundancy cheque today and have a good lead on a better position. Fingers crossed.

It's Friday, and life is good :-)

Have you ever felt completely stuck and unable to move ? That's how I feel now. I've worked for the same company for nearly 20 years. Hang on, I've read the blogs here and can hear some of you saying 'what a loser', but no - hear me out.

Up to 5 years ago I ***LOVED*** my job, really loved it. Full of interesting technical things to do, new technologies etc. I worked with a bunch of great people, sure there were some odd characters that you learned to live with but generally a great mix of talent and all people that you could respect for what they brought to the party.

I pretty much stumbled into management, a case of being in the right place at the right time but never really wanting to leave behind the practical side of what I did.
