Until I heard the Tom Waits version of the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs song, I never realized these were the lyrics. Pretty dark... and the Tom Waits version is terrific. Maybe it's because we absorved this as children we were brainwashed into the whole work ethic....

I was told I have to do this. What the FUCK? I've had to do this before (with a different boss) and he used exactly what I wrote.

Now I have to write my own again... plus the ones for the people who report to me. This is TIME CONSUMING, man!!! It takes forever to write these shitting things.

Guess what? I have already decided that I have excelled this year in all categories measured....

...I've decided, is that I could be on the fast track to promotion.

I recently got a promotion, and my boss LOVES me. I know that she's "grooming" me for the next level. Our company is going through a growth spurt and certain people are getting promoted pretty quickly. Sounds great, right?

However...

I hate my fucking job. I don't like what I do... but I am very good at it. I'd LOVE to do something else (after spending about a year on the beach recovering from 20 years of nonstop work....) but everything I'd like to do requires a boatload of additional schooling, and I don't want to spend the money.

... that good employees who do good work are usually rewarded with more work?

And often that bad employees do a slack-ass job, and get rewarded with a lot more free time and the same paycheck as the hard worker, at least until someone catches on and they fire him?
