Shorted on my paycheck!!!

Last week my boss called us all in for a meeting and explained that our checks would be direct deposited into our banks a bit later than usual. That was fine with me; I generally don't owe anything until the 5th through the rest of the month. However, when my money did hit the bank on Monday, I found out that I had only been paid for 68 hours, when I worked 84! I am MAD! I work very, very hard, and have taken on numerous duties that are not mine, because I work in a place where we are helping people, and I want to keep doing that!

I have approached the boss about this no less than 6 times since Monday. Her answers - "Oh, I haven't gotten to that yet."; "The accountant is busy doing other things."; "I will talk to him tomorrow."; "He is figuring up all your sick and leave time hours and your worked hours just to make sure we really owe you that many hours."; and, my favorite, "It's not that big a deal!"

Working on a Sunday

I had bronchitis and strep throat last week, and missed three days of work. I came back to find out that, rather than using my sick time to pay for those three days, the boss shorted me by almost 20 hours on my paycheck!!! I called her and she kept saying, "I'll fix it Monday" but I am still hundreds of dollars short!

I'm getting so aggravated about how hard she's making me work that I've noticed myself making snide remarks to her about it. She has come up with a way to completely ignore them: She simply looks at me and says, "I'm not going to talk about that right now." If I insist, that's insubordinate. If I wait until later, she either uses the same tactic, or she simply isn't here - she's supposed to be gone all through May and June. That puts me in charge for two months, adding another job to the ones I'm already doing, and yet she won't listen when I say, "THIS IS TOO MUCH!"

I am sick, sick, sick of seeing posts where someone tells me if I'm sick of my job, all I need to do is make money online! I'm glad it's working for you, dude, but this is not a site for spamming the rest of us! Please go somewhere else with your comments!

"Friends" from Work

Why do people get so upset when people at work aren't as friendly as someone would like them to be? We had a new lady start in a clerical position. Immediately she complained to management that people don't like her. WHO CARES? Yes, you should enjoy your job, and yes, hopefully you can work with the people around you, but who goes to work looking for a bunch of best friends? This lady was angry because a person at work didn't speak to her when she said, "Good morning." Come to find out the person she spoke to DIDN'T HEAR HER! How can you get mad about something so stupid? Life is too short. As a manager, I'm spending all my time running around saying, "Oh, did you say this?" Or, "Can you explain why an employee has complained to me that you are antisocial?"

Which one of you sent my blog to my boss???

Who sent my hateful blogs to my boss? Suddenly she has woken up! She has sent me thank yous, and told me to take an extra day off this week because I'm working so hard. She insisted that my assistant deal with some of the crap that has been happening because I am too busy to deal with that. She has been texting me and emailing me about how much she appreciates me. I even made the comment that I was sorry I had been a grouch and she said, "I know you don't mean it and that you are just stressed out." OMG! Who sent her my blog? How did you know it was me? I'm freaking out here.

The other possibility is that she has not seen it and has turned over a new leaf. But how often does that happen? Really?

Should I stay or should I go?

I managed to drag myself to work this morning, and was busily working for no pay (before 8 a.m.) when she swept in, with her claws sharpened, and said, "Don't come to the meeting this morning, I'll talk to you 'supervisors' next week." She then proceeded to take all non-supervisors in for an hour-long meeting, no doubt in which she encouraged them to empty their craws of all their hateful feelings about us supervisors. If it goes as usual, next week I will be written up because one of my employees said that I said something that I may or may not have said but that my bitch, uh, I mean boss, believes wholeheartedly and has decided she should punish me for it.

"Stress" Day Off

I took a "stress day" yesterday. Otherwise I might have killed my boss. A few of the things that had been bugging me were resolved yesterday (thank God) but I come back today and she's taken the day off. While this should be a good thing, all it has done is make me nervous. Does she know I've posted on this site all about her? Does she know I've applied for about a million other jobs? It's insane that I have this high an anxiety level over the fact that she has flipped out on me so many times. I truly feel like I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and I'm just waiting for her to go NUTS on me again.

Women Bosses - Good or Bad?

Three years ago, I was working for a man. A short man (4'5"), but one who left me alone and didn't care what I did, because he didn't know how to do his own job, much less mine. I was lured away by the promise of a management job at this place down the road. I have made numerous changes here, and I am proud of what I have done. But - this is only my second time having a female boss, and, although I am a woman myself, I don't know if I can take it!

The first thing that happened was two months after I took the job. We had an incident in which a contractor on site was making sexually harassing remarks to employees, so I asked him to leave. My boss CAME BACK FROM A VACATION OUT OF STATE TO SCREAM AT ME! First of all, I've been a supervisor for years, so I knew legally I had to remove the problem from the employees (e.g., ask the gentleman to leave). But, she was mad because she knew the contractor's brother, or something, and she came back and told me "You need to get your head out of your ass"; she told me that the people here "are not YOUR employees, but MINE" and she told me never to do anything again without checking with her first.
