There is the global economy, like CHINA. Which is posing tough competition to US. What US can do, China can do at 1/5 the price. Labour is dirt cheap, companies relocate there to save costs, and when companies relocate, jobs get relocated or lost. Higher management doesn't really suffer that much, it's the plebs and grunts that are most seriously affected by corporate decisions.

What about the recent SARS that attacked the whole asian region, people were afraid and held back their dollars, not spending or investing or buying US exports. (not spending=less demand=less production=less jobs) if you go down the line,tt means less opportunities for job openings, doesn't it?

BECAUSE MY BOSS FREAKING ASKED ME TO SPEND THE ENTIRE MORNING TRYING TO BOOK FLIGHTS FOR HIS HONEYMOON. 'nuff said, you don't want to know.

As if that's not bad enough, he's surfing for mobile phone sites has escalated to a deeper problem, he actually bought a PDA phone thingy (i can't name names here) and you kjnow what guys? for the past week i had to endure the , "come look at my phone, let me send you an MMS, here, wait till you see this, configure my POP settings on my phone for me will you? get me drivers for this, get me drivers for that, check this out" SHIT

So, it's like this, I have a bad job, a worse boss, and the worst kinda life... or so i thought.

I did some sort of soul searching and figured thought about advice, well, it ain't all that bad. I mean, if it's bad that's ok, but if it stays bad, that's stupid. So i figured that I shouldn't let it eat me, ya know, things people say and people do, since if I did, i'd prolly become one nasty fellow, seething with hate and all that.

I remembered a recent trip to a 3rd world country, and kids were living under highway bridges, begging for spare change at traffic lights, sorting through dumps to get something to eat. and i realized i wasn't in that bad shape as i thought.

2 bosses

Morning I get to work, 9.15 am

10am, Boss calls me into office. Says we have documentation to prepare. 60 pictures, 35 word docs and spare parts list to print(approx 120pps) unsorted, unclassified, just mess.

I start work, midway, boss2 comes over and tells me what to do. To avoid printing this and that, I tell him, i'll print everything and you sort it, since i dont know anything about the documents or parts to know which is relevant or not.

says he needs docs by 2pm, hook or by crook, i say worry not. shuts up and leaves.

10.45am, printer goes bazookas, i try to fix it, boss1 says no alternative just goddamn fix it.

8mths prior, was in deepshit, lost job, wife left, bank empty, friends bailed.

Approached a "friend", who is now my boss. Promised to take me on, under his wing, to train me, improved my life and all that glorious hogwash. His company dealt with oil and gas industry.

To me, it was a job. So fuck that, I need to eat, and shit, if you want to paint me the rainbows after the rain, go ahead. Says I need to be contracted for 24mths because company will "invest" to train me into an engineer. Stupid me, signs on the dotted line. Desperation can send you to new levels of stupidity.

I got a diploma in mechanical, studied basics in turbine principles. My boss? A certification in english language, and a headful of shit ozzing out his fat head.
