Ranting

This is my first contribution to this site. The first thing I want to say is THANK YOU for providing a forum for those us who must vent.

My rant:
Job are scarce in this tight job market (southern California). Having a restrictive list of requirements for the jobs I'll accept doesn't help much. BUT, having accepted this job a month ago was a big mistake. I am BY FAR the oldest person in the company. The person 'training' me and who acts as my immediate supervisor is 20 years old (!) and I just found out I am 12 years older than her parents! Don't get me wrong, I do not despise young people just because they're young. This woman is very, very competent at her job. The thing I can't stand is that she is a moody, unpredictable psycho-bitch! I feel like I need to install a Mood-O-Meter in the office so I'll have a clue about what mood she's in on any given day.

And her youth prevents her from seeing that just because she knows the procedure for something doesn't mean I will also know just because I'm sitting at the same desk! She is hell-bent on showing off what she knows but is absolutely incapable of explaining anything about how to do a task. She obviously has not trained anyone before and does not know the first thing about it.

She will find a mistake I have made in the paperwork and get all pissed off about it and be all snappy and snarly with me but not explain to me that I need to do something differently! I had to ask her five times last week if I needed to fix anything I had turned in to her. Every time she said 'yeah, you didn't do it right but I changed it for you and don't do it that way again.' Ok...

since my crystal ball is in the shop, I really have no idea what I'm failing to do right, nor do I know how to do it right since she hasn't bothered showing me anything!

can you say 'set up'? sure you can.

maybe she is just threatened by my skills and experience? I dunno. but, what she will never believe is that I DON'T WANT HER JOB!!! been there, done that!

I'm not after anything BIG. what I want is not much, really. I don't want special recognition. I don't want a big job title. I don't want trophies and awards. I just want to go to work, do my job, get paid for it, leave and have a life.

Call me a dreamer. but I'm pretty sure I'm just too old for this shit. any suggestions?

If you are the oldest worker, set this up for a lawsuit based on age discrimination. I'm saying to set it up - you don't have to go that way. But what if you work there for a year and one day get called in and told that your "attitude" is bad and that you're fired? Then, you'll look at a possible lawsuit as a way to get money.

So keep notes, dates, times, what is said, who was there. Just write it up at home the end of every day. Then, you'll have something to support a claim that you were discriminated against because of your age.

When the hammer falls, there may be an older worker there at that time who isn't fired. And this will most likely come through a series of bad "evaluations." Don't worry about that. it always happens that way. A company doesn't have to fire all older or black or women workers to discriminate and they never do.

dude,, if i were you, id tell the bitch whats going on. when she says you did something wrong,, and says she fixed it for you, explain that maybe you wouldnt do it again if you knew what the hell she was fixing. ive had some bosses like that,, although they were older than i am, but same thing. and if she still doesnt tell you whats going on,, tell her higher up that shes not training you correctly. and when she gets in trouble for this,, and turns on you again,, freak out on her, then she'll be scared of you, and theres nothing better than working for someone that is scared of you.

You seem to be scarred of the fact that someone who is younger than your old ass has a position of authority over you. Grow up.

The two best supervisiors I have EVER had were twenty-three and twenty-four. And I am 49 Plus.

They were very, very respectful and didn't jump all over me for my mistakes.

A turkey is a turkey . An asshole is an asshole.Regardless of age. My current supervisor was 25 when I started at my current job. He is the second worst supervisor I have ever had in thirty years.

Young people can be nice or rotten. You just snagged a BAD JOB, dude. If you think she might be leaving, stay. MY ADVICE: Quit now and get another job and just fudge the starting time a little. You will become miserable.

I should have gotten out at the beginning. Never again.

I don't know who you are maget, er magnet, but outing people for being pacifist whiners is my responsibility to this community. 2old4this does not fit into the aforementioned category. He is the victim of some haughty bitch with a hard on for him who is probably under the bosses desk and all you have to tell him for his troubles is he can’t handle being subordinate to the bosses whore? Who the fuck are you? Have you EVER met a twenty-year old supervisor outside of the confines of the fast food industry? Draw the fucking lines jackass! This bitch is sucking cock to the top of the corporate ladder and here we are with someone who is probably quite competent taking the brunt of her spiteful vendetta, all because she knows she shouldn’t rightfully be there and anyone who threatens her little fantasy she created will be ousted. So lets review the facts: 20 year old glorified admin sucks cock of 60+ year old owner, 50 something guy with outstanding resume works under her, 20 year old cocksucker pushes 50 something out by telling 60+ owner that she keeps having to hand him back his paperwork. So grow up? Fucking please man! If you read some of my posts you will probably find me to be well, an asshole. But one thing I never, EVER fucking do is lace my invectives with phrases that may be slanderous to race, sexual preference, religious credo, or god forbid age. So I am going out of character with what I am going to tell you but fuck it: YOU GROW THE FUCK, YOUNGSTER!!!!!!!!!! Just because you are the 2nd lead for the swing shift fryer position doesn’t mean that all twenty-year olds in management did it legit. Some of them don’t actually dawn an embarrassingly uncomfortable uniform everyday and aspire to one day put down the mop and make that move behind the grill and one step closer to telling some other pimpely-assed fucker face to go scrub the shit. Some of them actually DO get there the hard way, BY SUCKING THERE BOSSES COCK. God you fucking infuriate me you incompetent jackass. Now make my burger, bitch!
