Learn to ReadSo today was a lot slower than it has been in a week or so. We had about 1/4 of the crowd we have been having. It appears work is back on full force now. The smaller crowds left us time to notice and harrass people who cannot read. We always notice, but bigger crowds give us less chance to harrass. This store is wallpapered with signs. About everything. - No cell phones And many more. But daily, at least one person breaks something listed on a sign. At least one person has sandals on (even in below freezing weather) or a tank top. 3/4 of the customers use their cell phones. A herd shows up at closing for the range. And at least once a day someone calls and asks the following questions, which are either common sense, lack of reading and/or understanding, or just dumb. - Is this an outdoor range? Yes, right out on the side of a business district jammed pack with cars, buildings, and people. Add in the people who shoot their target off the carrier then walk out onto the range to get it (without even yelling cease fire), people handing the range officers loaded guns, people checking in their guns by wiping the gun out from under their coats without letting anyone know they are carrying concealed, etc. And we wonder why, when taking the range review, only 1 out of 50 people find the trick statement. The range review is a list of our rules and general gun safety, then a test to check your gun knowledge. After the rules is a statement that says, "When you finish reading this, put your initials in the top right corner of the paper." All range reviews have this. ALL OF THEM! Not in the same spot, but somewhere in the rules on the review, you are going to have to initial. This range has the most blatant one. Some hide them in the middle. We put it at the end. IN BIG, BOLDED AND UNDERLINED LETTERS. Then they say, "Oh, that was the only one I didn't read." Yeah, because everyone working here is stupid enough to believe you. The used to make you go away and come back to take the test again if you missed that one, now they just point it out. I don't know why. If you are too lazy to read the rules and general gun safety info, you are too dangerous to be holding a loaded gun. /Transmission |
