What in the Hell?

Another day at work today. I worked about 18 hours this weekend. Things never change. I hate my job. I have applied for two other jobs and the closing date should be coming around soon. I find it extremely humorous that everyone in our department seems to think that no one is interested in leaving this hellhole. Why do I have to work weekends to do other people's work and while I'm at work during the week why do I get crap from everyone in sight. I'm beginning to think my former paralegal was right on the ball when she would shout, "I don't know why everyone around thinks they can talk to me any kind of way that they want to!" I didn't quite understand what she meant back then, but now I fully do. These people I work with think they can just tell me whatever they want to, without regard for me or anything else. I am not these people's friends or family and I really don't appreciate being yelled at by ignorant fools.

Then to top everything off my boss is back up to his old behavior. I'm made now that I ever even questioned why. I should've just been happy that he was not bothering me. I'm trying to realize now that I do not need to know the why behind everything.
My boss came up to the office on Saturday while I was working and decided to come into my office and chat with me. I was sooo shocked that he even spoke to me, I really was we have not been really speaking in weeks. Of course he starts talking about how he used to be an attorney up in Atlanta, Georgia and he represented athletes and upcoming singers...etc. Well apparently these athletes and singers loved to meet in strip clubs to do business so that's where he would have to go and he met a lotof strippers and dated quite a few....I can only assume he telling me all this to prove how cool he is, I honestly wasn't sure what it was all about. So I am pretty quiet listening to him, just nodding my head when appropriate and deliberately acting not interested in the narrative. Well when it's all over he says to me "you know you would make a lot of money as a stripper up in Atlanta." I just stared dumbfounded at him with my mouth open and then he continues talking! He says, "you have a beautiful face and huge breasts you would be very well paid in Georgia." While he says this he is completely serious not cracking a smile. When stops talking he has this huge ass smile on his face and I am sitting there in further shock and disbelief. Wondering what in the hell was going on.

I knew this was coming though because on Friday I was wearing jeans and some high heeled loafers...(on Friday it's causual day in our office) So my boss walks up to me as I am standing by the fax machine and looks me up and down (twice) I was watching him out of the corner of my eye because he was standing on the side of me. He starts smiling grabs my arm (like to get my attention) and gets very close to me like he's about to say something, but then the secretary walks out from the back (where all the supplies are kept...she's an older lady) and he immediately lets go of my arm. He's still standing very very close to me and then says I really like your shoes, I like it when you wear those high heels.

I put in 2 more job applications today through an online service.

It's such a shame in this day and age that any woman has to prove sexual harassment in the workplace and that OSHA can't just take her word for it.

My solution? A knee in the groin. A male friend of mine agreed that that was the way to go because apparently its very painful to men. And you can hope that you break his you-know-what in the process.

Fucking male pigs think they have the right to harass us just because we are their employees.

I'd have that baby on 'record' everytime that jerk is around you! If you had the 'goods' on him you would have the most brilliant of lawsuits. Glad I don't have your boss as my attorney-obviously he's not up to code on sexual harassment. Invest in a micro-recorder and carry it in a jacket pocket with the 'record' button on when he's around you. Problem with harassment is if you have no witnesses to it nor any real documentation it becomes your word against the company. Sounds like though you are a young woman and this idiot likes young-he's probably done this to several other employees-do you notice this behavior from him with any other workers?

have a mini recorder, but unfortunately it would not be admissible as evidence against him. At least not here in Florida (USA). He doesn't do this with anyone else that I've noticed. I'm really the only young girl in our immediate Department. Everyone else is older than me. I think the problem is with everyone else if he makes an inappropriate comment it's pretty clear he's kidding (i.e. laughing, smiling...etc) but with me he normally makes his comments with a completely serious tone and then when he sees my unhappy reaction then he will smile and start to laugh. I guess like he's testing the waters to see if I am willing to take him up on his offer. I just keep wondering why he keeps doing it. It's pretty clear I'm not interested so he should lay off. I mean he's married with 2 kids for Godsake. If he spent as much time training me in this area of the law as he did hitting on me I would be the best attorney there.

Definitely document who said what, when, where! Write all comments, incidents in your daytimer/notebook and take it home every night. Use a micro recorder...whatever and build a case.
Don't know where you are, but in Canada, sexual harassment laws state that you have to tell the harasser that his behaviour/comments are unwanted and that you want them to stop. If it continues, and it's well-documented, then you have a case. The onus is on the one being harassed to tell the harasser that their behaviour is inappropriate. Go figure! Some a-hole tells you you've got a nice rack and he has to be told that's inappropriate. No wonder our companies are in trouble with jerks like that in charge! I was told once by a manager that I had a nice figure and if I wanted to be promoted I should wear skirts and "use it". And I work in the public sector where there's supposed to be more protection, policies, etc. against shit like that.
