I love my job!I love my job, it is a wonderful thing to get up in the morning, and go to work knowing you enjoy what you do. To have this luxury is purly priceless. I have worked in my career path for 12 years, edging my way up, reaching goals, and reaping the benefits of all my labor. For me, the pain started several months back, 9 to be exact. I moved to a new country, to my wife's home, not so far from Australia, nice, and peacefull place, but too many hobbits. I work for an international company, and my managers are in the US, unfortunatly they are blind to time differences, work ethic's, goals of an employee, care for someone's happiness, etc, the same type of manager you work for I am sure. Fortunatly for me, they do not understand that other country's actually do have laws governing employment, and get this, contracts are actually binding! These fools have had me sitting in this seat for 10 months, keeping it warm. While I can not complain about having a job because that comes with a paycheck, I can and am complaining about not having any work! For 10 months! I have sat here, waiting, begging, pleading for scraps of work that they would not pass on because the guys in the US are terrified of loosing their jobs if they share any of the workload! Fucking hell, I am in fucking HELL. Imagin several weeks off work, getting paid, to surf the net, what a grand idea, even a montth, its a wonderfull way to relax, but afterr 10 months of it, it becomes pain, pain is probably too soft of a word, it is more like a baseball bat with 10 inch spikes driven in it and shoved up your ass. Enough for now.. I am just annoyed I am still in this position! Arggg! I know exactly what you are talking about. I used to get exciting work to do for this company. But they've expanded and hired new people. Believe it or not, the new recruits are getting the exciting work. I get paid the most around here, but the genius manager of ours thinks I should get the least amount of work to do. So I'm idle most of the time. I've logged a lot, ... A LOT of hours on the internet over the last 2,3 years. It gets tiring after a while. If they didn't pay me so much, I would have left a long time ago. But I am a slave to the money now. If I didn't have a wife and kids, I would quit even for less money. i'm so in the same place great job turned to crap now have no work and all i do is surf around on the net... you have to know it's bad if you've found this site by searching a search engine for people who hate their jobs lOL You can only surf the net? HOW HORRIBLE! LOL [Moderator] i'm a manager for a major newspaper, and i will GLADLY trade my position for the "killing time" job you have. for the past 4 months, it's been 10 hour days, 7 days a week. and to top that off, i'm salaried, so i see ZERO overtime pay. nothing like busting your ass 30 hours a week for free (and for those of you who may be keeping track, that's just shy of $7200 in overtime i'll never see in the past 4 months alone). don't mind me... i'm just very, very bitter. : ) |
