THE 5%It's always amusing seeing people back on site who thought they'd gotten out of one shit job and into something better. It's time to accept the truth folks - 'we' as a group will not be satisfied with any job, it's our nature, we're the dissidents, we are habitual shirkers, we cannot chug cock and take hard time in 'the man's' penitentiary. We have the spirit of cool hand luke, of the cooler king, of 3747 Carling, of Andy Dufresne, of colditz. In the POW camps they found that if they seperated the 5% of escapists from the rest, they'd have no problem controlling 95% of their prisoners - who were basically conformists, the 5%, however, would continue trying to escape. Accept your nature and fuck your job without reservation. I like your comments as always... how true you are! Agreed. I figure, as long as you're working towards financial freedom, the working world will not be a Reality forever. Conform enough to survive. We on this site are the 5%, the dissidents, the Cool Hand Lukes. We will die fighting, thats just who we are. I would not matter if I had the best job on earth, if I was Angelina Jolie working on the Smiths I'd still be pissed that I had to get up early to get my hair and make up done for the shoot. I basically just hate having to trade my valuable time for money. Even if I just stay home and sew at least its WHAT I WANT TO DO. I loved the time when I didn't work, I shopped, travelled, got drunk in the morning, slept late, stayed up late. It was great. I wish my whole life was like that. There is a good chance it will be that way in the future but who cares, I'll be fucking old by then and not really able to enjoy it like you could in your 20s and 30s. Fuck work for taking away my youth. I HATE ANY JOB-- FUCK THEM ALL. I never have had a job that I hated with a passion. This is the first. My other jobs weren't perfect, but NEVER as bad as this one. Sorry, but I came to this site because I never have had an experience like this job. I had nowhere to turn. No offense, but I (being over fifty) seriosly doubt this will repeat. If it happens again, I will NEVER "stay", I'll be a job jumper because I don't need a great employment record anymore. I have ten years left until retirement. [Moderator] Colditz was considered "escape-proof". This was in part because of its lack of escapes during its term as prison camp in World War I, but mostly due to it being the only German prisoner-of-war camp with more guards than prisoners... this sounds like my job now where theres 2 'managers' per 8 workers... I feel all your pain. These sites have helped me greatly. www.whywork.org |
