It's only been an hour and already I'm so bored I could cry...am yawning as it is and have perfected the closed mouth yawn and the silent lion roar yawn (that's best done when no-one's looking directly at you).
Got more pages to proof read ( three pages to be exact). So what else would I need for umm...15 minutes?
Also had a chance to interact with the lovely production person. This time I used only proofing marks (the standard ones) and didn't add any margin commentary. Now, my editor can't make out what the marks mean...hehheeheehehehheeh *cough*...the mental laughter is making me choke
Ok, so it's been another half hour and I'm still bored. Have checked the corrected copy (that took about ten minutes and only coz I was streching it)...now what?
I should go home and sleep.
Was clearing out my desk...there's this amazing joy you feel when you hand-shred paper isn't there? I love the sound...particularly coz it makes weird boss look up -- startled. Hah!
And now he's proofing pages...and studiously avoiding me...so that's my cue to leave! He probably thinks I've written satanic language on the hallowed pages of his rubbish mag...Am definitely inventing an excuse to stay home after lunch -- but that's still 45 minutes away. May be I can say I got the 24 hour flu? Upset stomach? Family emergency? Yeah, that sounds vague enough...or a migraine attack...hmmmm...
And fat old ugly production guy is checking out the babe who walked in...yuck! he actually turned around in his chair....am going to go throw up now.
Will do a comic character sketch (in verse?) of these weirdos soon...so watch this space!
OMG! weird boss has no clue about forwarding mail and is pretending he does. He also calls the en-dash the big hyphens and is astounded by the em-dash. he just asked someone to insert the dot dot dot (and I thought we called those elipses!) And yes, he is the EDITOR!!!!
Not sure if this is comic or really sad...
And the shrill lady in the corner is in a very shrill mood today...Is there a hiring criteria for weirdness? And if so, what does it mean that they took me in?? OMG!
