technical certifications

I am so sick and tired of the IT certification game. mcse, cissp, cisa, giac, ccne ....puke.

I see people with limited experience and 5 technical certs making good money. they can't log onto a computer but want 90k because they could remember 200 facts. they flood the market with their crap certs.

public accounting firms are a perfect example of this hypocrisy. these firms think that IT people should have a similar certs. we use the internet to find an acceptable answer in 10 seconds while CPAs will come up with a different number everytime they perform a financial analysis.

experience, education, soft skills and 1 or 2 certs should be fine. but it never is. these firms can't understand this issue. CPAs have to have some CPE every year. what a joke. I say that they should retake the exam every 4 years like I have to. both fields change rapidly...but IT gets screwed. I would bet that 75 percent of current CPAs would fail.

I fucking hate CPA firms that hire IT auditors. they push their shit down our necks.

how can you trust a CPA that doesn't have a technical cert? you info is input into a computer - database and then modified. the entire tool set for a CPA is the computer.

what a joke......

CPA, IT, CPE, sounds all the same to me. I know that a lot of people in the IT field got burned pretty bad, BTW. This certification stuff just seems to make things more complicated....
