Benefits Copay Hell

Today was copay hell. (@#$#)O$*#($*#! I went to the pharmacy to get a refill only to find that my insurance was canceled. Then I vaguely remembered hearing that the company was changing medical plans and so I thought OK, let me the call the BA (Benefits Asshole) and ask about it. I told him where I was and the ass said , "oh yeah, we're in that period between plans and you're just caught in middle. You should get your card in the next few weeks."

Next few weeks? What the fuck am I supposed to do right now I asked. The meds I need are too expensive to pay out of pocket. He says well pay it and you can fill out an reimbursment form.

The meds out of pocket were $1200! (You Canadians are lucky) so I said what the fuck again. I then hung up and called my boss and asked him what the fuck kind of company this is that leaves its employees hanging out to dry while they change plans? He apologized profusely and said he would talk to BA. About 5 minutes later BA calls back with an 800 number and group number I could call to get my new member id and info.

This cheap-ass company is so shitty, they don't even have a real benefits person. They have an accounting clerk who is in charge of the benefits! They get what they pay for! They let an unskilled clerk who doesn't give a flying fuck manage the company benefits and guess what? They get shitty management of the benefits. Duh.

Well i do know that some of your heart medications can run $600 - 1000 a jar and you maybe get a couple month's worth. I think health care is going up so much because of the BS housing market's spillover into the other industries (have you noticed that the price of gas and housing have gone up at roughly the same rate?). Also, the health insurance and doctors are just driving up the costs because they're pulling fast ones on everyone. They were caught charging people $220 for a $.50 plastic catheder. Or get this, I read where they charged $70 for a 'mucous recovery system'. That's the medical term for a box of Kleenex (maybe $1.19 for the luxury brand). Besides, you have to pay for all of the administrators and sales representatives and managers making $50k - 180k who work in the field. Come on, people, they won't have enough money for a new boat or that designer bling jewelry from Italy :)....seriously, the fraud in the medical field is really bad.
