Calling in Sick

The one good thing about hating my job like I do is that I hate it so much, it makes me sick to think about. So when I want to 'call in sick' I will NOT be lying -- it will be the absolute truth! Cough Cough, I sense a sick day coming up.

I really like that idea... so when you say you woke up and felt sick you're not lying because you DID feel sick thinking about having to go work.... I like that a lot.

One thing reading here has taught me......the people who are the most disatisfied in their jobs are usually the ones who take the least sick time and remain dedicated even when they depise their working situation, for many complicated reasons.
I am guilty of this, I never take sick time. Well, I am lucky enough to not often be ill enough as to be incapacitated, and even when ill, would prefer a day of being out in the world than lying about, but only as I tend to become paralysed and depressed if I lie about too much (weekends are a case in point)not out of dedication. Maybe it is more out of fear, if I am honest enough to examine my real motives.
The fact that all of us here know, is that there is no reward for this. None. In fact we probably hurt oursleves by doing this. It becomes the norm. It is expected. It is not valued or seen as a quality. In fact the people who take regular or even excessive sick time are just as valued and probably more valued than we are. Oh, and happier too. They don't sweat it if they don't feel up to snuff, just call in sick. No guilt, no soul searching, no fear of who might do what while they are away and be found out to not be totally indespensible.
Well, one thing I have learned is that no matter how hard you work and how much you do, you are dispensible and totally replacable. In a heartbeat.
So, next time the urge to have a sickie comes over any of us, I think we should just go with it.

They have this stupid system where if you are sick more than one day during a 6 month period..you are disciplined.

For one thing, it encourages people to come in when they're really sick and THAT makes everyone else sick. Something like the flu does not go away in 1 day. Hello! What kind of *#&*$#*$# company is that?
