FORCED CHRISTMAS PARTY

There is nothing like a forced Christmas Party- you know the one-
You are in your last friggin year of a job and you work with people that you would rather run over than stand next to- and there is a Christmas party to get the shitty morale that everyone has happy-somehow-

Am I the only one who has ever tried to make-it wasn't a beeline- it was like an OJ Simpson "holy shit the LA Police are after my ass" run out the front door... and the principal stopped me-

Some questions...

1. Why do bosses think that we will not want to kill them at these things?
2. Why do people who I can't stand want to talk to me...there is no alcohol available- why would I ever like them?
3. Why do people want to talk to me about meetings that will occur a month off?
4. Why do all the gossip trolls invite me to their table- I hate them...
5. Why must music be blasted?

I am so miserable- I feel like a have a flu whenver Sunday comes along...

Some questions... (Answers follow...)

1. Why do bosses think that we will not want to kill them at these things?
>> Because the boss needs to feel magnanimous. This is there way of showing their appreciation for you busting your hump all year long so that they could look good to their bosses.

2. Why do people who I can't stand want to talk to me...there is no alcohol available- why would I ever like them?
>>Fake friendliness. 'Tis the season, you know...

3. Why do people want to talk to me about meetings that will occur a month off?
>>Simply because some people can not get away from work. Their lives are so meaningless that their job defines them completely. They go home and think of work. They go to sleep and dream of work. They have revelations about work while showering, shaving, etc. You get the picture...

4. Why do all the gossip trolls invite me to their table- I hate them...
>>Merely to get more ammunition on others... and you. These people come from the shallower end of the gene pool, are usually heavy mouth-breathers, and take some sort of childish delight in causing another person misery.

5. Why must music be blasted?
>>It hides conversations. It forces a closeness among people, because they can't hear each other. This also allows for observers (management and the gossip-mongers) the chance to see who groups with whom, and how close people get to each other--closeness shows comfort, openness, and friendliness; distance shows the opposite.

1. Why do bosses think that we will not want to kill them at these things?
A: Bosses like to think you actually like, admire, and respect them.

2. Why do people who I can't stand want to talk to me...there is no alcohol available- why would I ever like them?

A: They like to think you actually like, admire, and respect them.

3. Why do people want to talk to me about meetings that will occur a month off?

A: Because they actually think you care about what they have to say.

4. Why do all the gossip trolls invite me to their table- I hate them...

A: This may not be a bad thing. Gossip trolls are good sources of company information. Especially if they know when the next layoff is comming.

5. Why must music be blasted?

A: Loud music overcomes the uncomfortable feelings everyone feels at these forced events. Either that or the event hosts are clueless.
