Work Is Like Being In The Matrix

It really sucked going back to work, didn't it?

The people you work with either have the same thirst for freedom as you do, or they are stuck living in some sort of fantasy world where they think if they work hard, they will be a CEO some day or that their boss lOvEs them or some other stupid careeristic crapola. They are either with us, or against us.

You know, I was watching the matrix over the holidays and I decided to post what I think is the most relevant part of the movie:

Morpheus: The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.
[Neo's eyes suddenly wander towards a woman in a red dress]
Morpheus: Were you listening to me, Neo? Or were you looking at the woman in the red dress?
Neo: I was...
Morpheus: [gestures with one hand] Look again.
[the woman in the red dress is now Agent Smith, pointing a gun at Neo's head; Neo ducks]
Morpheus: Freeze it.
[Everybody and everything besides Neo and Morpheus freezes in time]
Neo: This... this isn't the Matrix?
Morpheus: No. It is another training program designed to teach you one thing: if you are not one of us, you are one of them.

I am there for my money.
I am not there to be your friend.
I am not there to be your enemy.
I am not your Agent Smith.
I am not there to be your bitch in a red dress.

I just want my money, for a days work, then I want to go home and have a beer.

Yeah, this program is buggier than Vista and I'm fed up. Besides Fight Club, the Matrix is another one of my favorite anti-life, anti-work movies. Too bad I'm stuck on a loop of Unemployment for XP... Shitjob 2.0 would be a nice distraction. I checked the Detroit News today and I noticed some nasty statistics; Michigan has a NEGATIVE hiring rate, 8.0% unemployment (60% higher than nationally), and we pissed through our 300 million dollar surplus and we're hardly into week 3 of 2008... I desperately need to run somewhere warm, cheap, and work 2 shit jobs. We don't have a whole lot to look forward to nationally, either. As soon as the bond markets fall apart and China makes margin call, HELLO Great Depression 2.0!!! So I'm glad in a way that I have NOTHING to lose when the shit hits the fan, except this time the rest of the world won't go down with us. Time to get that passport made up and work on some emergency visas in Finland or Sweden. They have negative population growth, growing economies, and are willing to put up with foreigners that will eventually learn the lingo and get off their welfare, which runs at a SURPLUS and puts people through trade school or college!!! Don't forget the universal health care, either! Keep it evil...

Don't like to think too much, it makes me think too much,
it keeps my mind on my mind
don't wanna see too much, it makes me see too much
sometimes I'd rather be blind

all the things that they're saying & doing
when they pass me by it just fills me up with noise
it overloads me
I wanna disconnected myself
pull my damn brains out, unplug myself
I want nothing right now, I want to pull it out

yeah, I want to pull it out, yeah
I wanna break it all down, hey, I wanna pull it out
yeah, yeah, disconnect myself, disconnect myself

a thousand miles an hour going nowhere fast
cluding to the details of your past
talking 'bout your damages and wasting my time
wanna be the king mainstain in line
all the numbers and the colours of the fax
back by the rumours and the figures of the statch
I think I'm gonna download my mind

I wanna pull it out

too damn bad if at the end of the day the only thoughts
in your brain are all the things that they say, what a waste
too damn bad if at the end of the line you got no idea of
what's on your own mind
you got no one to blame but yourself
too much to know, too much to see
if I mean something to you but it's nothing to me

I wanna disconnect myself, pull my brains damn out, unplug myself
I want nothing right now, I want to pull it out

(Rollins Band: Disconnect)
