Here's a new record/low... A job that lasted ONE DAY before I QUIT it! I've been unemployed for six months, finally got a job that couldn't be worse than the last one I had and it paid more, but IT SUCKED ASS! Any Actual Results From Recruiters? Has anyone actually ever had any positive results from corporate/professional recruiters or their agencies? And, I'm referring to decent positions with a minimum salary of $50k... It seems that about 80% of decent job postings are now handled through multiple bureaucracies involving inept recruiters. All I have ever experienced vis-a-vis recruiters are teases with no real possibility of landing a job. Most are horribly unorganized, aloof, and seem to just go through the motions without ever taking action toward helping someone get hired. I posted on here about 6 months ago, bitching and moaning about not finding any decent jobs - and guess what? Same shit, different day. I've had many bullshit phone interviews that never lead to anything...then I see these morons that actually get these jobs, and it is a fucking joke. Relationship bankers with "some college," marketing managers with certificates from community colleges...what a shitty deal. Any Actual Results From Recruiters? I just found out that the other temps I work with make 13 an hour, but my piddly stupid ass is making 10.50. What the fuck to do? Ive been there sine August, and so have other temps, but new ones they brought in this week also make 12, because I am nosy and asked and they told me. What's up with COVAD? Covad is a DSL provider. They have been a great DSL provider for years. In the last 2 months or so things have not been so good with Covad. I have constant connectivity issues. They told me to replace all the DSL filters. Did that. They told me they would send a tech and it will cost $175. $175!! They cost me $80 a month in DSL service charges, which I am happy to pay when their service was great. Usually these guys just re-provision the line and no problems for weeks. But no not this time, we have to send out the $175 technician to fix it. So I call a few more times, try to get them to re-provision the line. No doing, they know me now. I am looking at my dead ASDL modem light and they are telling me everything is great, they see no problems. Guy has thick accent, so perhaps I am out of line and ask "what country is this?" he says Philippines. Ok... Covad USA company, but that's ok. DSL is still dead. Called a few more times try to get someone to do something (like re-provision the line), no doing. Job recruiters Submitted by abw73 on Fri, 12/29/2006 - 13:32.

I just don't get this shit. My resume has been out on craigslist (and a few other places) for ages. It is pretty clear what I am capable of. I can't list everything I do because that would fill a book, so I have a 3 page resume. It has become obvious that recruiters DON'T FUCKING READ because I consistently will have them send a job description for shit not listed on my resume. For example, if you read a resume of a plumber, would you contact him about dry wall? Probably not. How about an auto mechanic? He MUST know how to fix aircraft engine because he's a mechanic. What the fuck? To top it off, I then am asked for a pay scale. In other words, what is the least they can pay me? How about this, why don't you tell me how much the job pays first? If you make an UNSOLICITED call based on finding my resume in a search... Submitted by exponentialofdoom on Wed, 12/20/2006 - 23:30.

... and you're calling because you have a position that a) pays entirely on sales comission and/or b) has the words "account" and "manager" in the job title, be prepared for a verbal assault involving sexual impossibilities with farm animals before I hang up on you. ps - nice to see after a year and a half of inactivity my account is still active! time to blog again! shout outs to little nicky, sig sauer, cranky broad, and servicewithafakesmile (if any of you are still here) Working with others Submitted by StickyGumby on Sat, 12/09/2006 - 07:13.

With VENDORS: A vendor I work with can't write me a proposal to save their life yet they have cornered the market and are making significant coin (got lucky with marketing a product). It's gotten to the point that I have to teach them how to engage in business with our organization and it just bewilders me. Now some readers may be saying, "hey it's just a bad vendor..right?" I'm working with their #1 competitor who is multi-billion dollar company yet cannot deliver me a proposal on their new product offering either. I'm not asking for the moon here. Just tell me why we should buy it, the benefits, who supports it and anything to do with financials. Both companies just want to cut to the chase and work out a $$ compensation deal in some word document without giving us the necessary information to make logical business decisions. Personally this just blows my mind. In the last ten years I've felt the professionalism in business has declined and is steadily getting worse. Just makes you want to quit business and become a sun lotion salesman on the beach. Our Travel Agent is an Idiot Submitted by la_llorona on Wed, 05/24/2006 - 15:16.

Me: Hey, In-House Travel Agent Guy, the Big Boss is going to Milan to meet with a potential client. What are the rates and is there still room available in Hotel A, Hotel B, Hotel C and Hotel D? In-House Travel Agent Guy: Hotel A costs a buttload, Hotel B is also a buttload, Hotel C is a mega-buttload and Hotel D costs for one night what you make in one week. Me: The Big Boss is meeting Potential Client at Restaurant X at 123 Via Something Italian, which is in the Brera district, and wants to stay in the hotel closest to the restaurant. Since two of my co-workers are out sick today and I'm swamped with their work, would you do me a favor and find out the distance between each hotel to the restaurant? I dislike Job fairs...oh sure they have a bunch of different companies there and they take your resume and tell you about their company, but truthfully most of these people are there because their bosses made them go. Usually the only people that are there are the Cable companies the Mortgage brokers, the stock broker types as well as some other companies that we all know and dont want to be bothered with. and the Job seekers there? they look like a bunch of sad sacks, but who can blame them? They have to deal with a bunch of companies that do nothing but take their resumes, make them go through the whole boring process, and ask them if they are further interested, and if so they will call them, when truthfully they probably will not. THEME: WILL YOU GRAB MY NIPPLES WITH JUMPER CABLES, CONNECT THEM TO YOUR CAR BATTERY, AND START TAKING OFF DOING AT LEAST 45 MPH? Before I was looking for a job, on my answering machine, I had a recorded message of Dave Chappelle playing Rick James, and anyone that called (including my mother who cussed me out saying change that shit) Just for shits n giggles, I'm going to record something else, but more foul, becasue I know who and what will be calling me tomorrow since I have no prospects, at least anything to jump up and down for. Have you ever had to provide a W2 form to verify employment for a position a temp agenciy can't verify. They called the employer, but still want me to come up with a W2 to prove employment for a CONTRACT position. I have NEVER done this with any employer, contract or direct hire. Ya, know that once upon a time, this Computer company used to operate out of outside of Austin TX. My best friend who is an IT guy recommended that I buy a D--- computer because they have the best pricing. Then less than 2 months of ownership, my laptop died.... When I called customer service, it was an emergency. I was working on a college paper due the next day for my Geology class. It took me about 6 minutes to go through all the phone automation mumbo jumbo, and then I was on hold damn near 40 minutes to get connected to customer service which is located in India. The guy's English totally sucked and he was reading from a manual that said I should disassemble my computer myself and fix the problem. After 2 hours, nothing worked and then they had to send me a box to send my computer back to get repaired and sent back to me. Lost in a foreign country Submitted by utero on Fri, 10/21/2005 - 15:04.

I had a job that i love, the problem was salary. I applied for another company overseas. The agency offered me a handsome salary to work in great company (one of the best in the industry). When i came on this (asian)country, the agancy changed the plan. They wanted me to work in the other company that most contractual hate. I cannot do anything, i have no choice. I resigned on my previous job, im in a foreign country. I have a family to feed. I have to sign the 2 years contract. Money is still good but the work sucks. Boring..dead boring. If i have known that the situation will change like this, I shouldnt have quit my job..that i love. |
