Submitted by jobsarehell on Tue, 04/22/2008 - 19:06.

Wanna get a job these days? Be prepared to be a slave. Here are some requirements for a job AD from an unnamed company, but actual posting. Notice some of the more interesting requirements which I have marked with ***:

Be at least 21 years of age for DOT covered positions OR have a minimum of 3 years professional driving experience with a Class 'B' CDL.

High School Diploma / GED equivalent.

Class “B” CDL meeting DOT requirements or Class B Permit - Must be willing and able to obtain Class B License within 2 weeks of hire date.

Fuck This Loser

Submitted by DOLILDANCE on Tue, 03/18/2008 - 20:13.

So I log onto fthis job hoping to find something to amuse me and maybe make me feel a little better about my situation... What do I find? Post after post from from DLWS who is NOT venting about his job but only totally taking advantage of free advertising. I will eat my words if I am wrong but seriously is anyone really dumb enough to believe this guy and his bullshit?

Interview Rejection: Humiliation via PowerPoint

Is it within forum protocol to gripe about a job interview rather than a job? I think this one deserves one or two (2) blogs.

Down but not out

Well, been a while since I blogged here... things for a LONG time were good... what does that tell you? Of course I was due for a big fat dump of heaping steaming fecal matter poured liberally over my nugget... In this case, its an actual injury I sustained on the job... now granted, I haven't been fucked over by the company... not yet. And I'm not about to start trusting them.
Long story short, I've been contracting in the Middle East and have been supporting the "Global War on Terror" in "Operation Extreme Stupidity" for some time, but now I find myself on the casualty rolls with a knee thats in dire need of rebuild/replacement.

Beware 2nd shift

Submitted by BuzznFrog on Sat, 12/22/2007 - 03:35.

When I started this job I thought I was dreaming...Sleep in everyday, make more money than I've ever made before, and not an unbearable job to boot. How wrong I was. You see, I work second shift and weekends. This means that I've had about 2-3 meaningful interactions with another human being over the past several months. I wake up and everyone else is at work- It's like an episode of the Twilight Zone where you wake up and your town is deserted.

OK so I'm being a bit overdramatic and overall I'm content for the moment, I'm just saying 2nd shift can suck. The other thing is the job isn't really related to what I want to do with my life. OK I must admit I am learning some valuable skills but I don't want to spend much of my life working this job.

Just dropped in to say Happy Holidays!!

Submitted by the_magnet on Sun, 12/16/2007 - 23:42.

I had a litle free time tonight, so I thought I would drop in and say hello to my favorite job haters on the net. I read a few of the recent blogs and I am glad to see some things don't change, it is just cry and complain about having to go out and put in an honest day of work. I was really hoping that with the holiday season upon us that some of you found the gumption to tough it out and do your meaningless little jobs and give your boss the respect that he deserves. If you worked for me the only thing you expect at this time of year would be a bunch of extra work and no bonus check.

Speaking of myself, I guess I should bring you all up to date on the recent events in my life - to make it easy all is good with me, heck, it is even great! Just moved into my new house about a month ago, it is a beautiful place with all of the amnemities that I deserve and even require. I have to take care of myself, after all, I have so much to live for - a great job, a hot woman, fast cars and now this unbelievable home. Honestly, I think I have it all. It is what God wants me to have.

Advice

Submitted by PoetWithADayJob on Thu, 11/15/2007 - 22:23.

OK, my last post for the day...provided people leave me alone...

I need some advice. I'm now actively seeking a new job. This is the first real job I've had since taking a 3 year hiatus to attend graduate school, so I'm compelled to use my current boss(es) for references.

Do I tell them I'm actively seek employment elsewhere or wait until someone calls looking for a reference?

What you have you all done in the past? This is a new one on me. Usually I quit because I'm moving.

Thanks,
PWADJ

I wish I had a job to hate......

I wish I had a job to hate.

Let me explain how I got here.....

When I was 18, very young, sheltered, and naive, I decided to major in Elementary Education and English. I got a job out of college and taught for 5 years. Each year I found it more stressful and unsatisfying, and everyone says if you don't like what you're doing, find something else to do.

So....at the end of my 5th year I took a course in Central Office Installation in the Telecommunications field. The work was enjoyable and the pay was good, but the industry came to a complete stand-still around 2000, and I could not get back in. Yes, I tried. Very diligently and determinedly. Also, I'm not one who thinks the world is against me because I'm female, but in that industry, I sometimes wondered. All the other women I worked with were either someone's wife or girlfriend who was already working there.

The Bitch is being nice now!

Submitted by IHateMyJob on Thu, 10/25/2007 - 07:26.

What the fuck? Now this ho-bag is being nice as hell to me. To the point that the staff is having a "farewell dinner" for me?

Sure I'm going to miss working with a few of them, but there are a couple there that I just want to smash over! I worked for this company for about 22 months now, and the last 6 months have been total shit. Now they're being nice because I'm leaving.

Fuck them. What an insult.

Good luck finding another person with the same quals to replace me, it's not going to happen down in this shithole town!

It's All the Same

Submitted by ookie on Wed, 10/03/2007 - 21:45.

Different land, different state, same crap.

Looking for a job in a state different from before but the situation is still the same. You apply. Nobody calls you. Or they call and you're not available, so you call them back and nobody answers. And nobody answers again. And there's no voicemail.

You're underqualified for the "good" jobs. You're overqualified for the "average" jobs, and the "crappy" jobs pay so low and are so crappy that you probably could get hired but just don't want to take on that kind of working environment.

An illegal who barely speaks English can get a better job than I can.

Has anyone Tried Virtual Call Center?

I wonder if anyone is working at, was working at, or had tried to get on with a virtual call center. I tried applying for Alpine Access today (www.alpineaccess.com) and wondered if anyone had any tidbits about companies like these? I realize they don't pay that well, but oh well. If I'm going to do User Support I may as well get paid less and do it from home.

Interview with a Small Company

First off, I'm, 54. Last week, I interviewed for a software support position and my first interview was with the Veep, a decent fellow in perhaps his mid 30's. I could tell that the company was a very young company in a very vertical market and experiencing growth. This was made even more apparent when the 'manager' of the department I would have been working in stepped in to interview. This was some guy probably early twenties and evidently was thrown into the manager job without any actual training. At least he didn't get HR training because after looking at my resume he said (and I quote):
